Direction and values
Set Your Course
Clarify what you are moving toward rather than defining yourself only by what you are trying to stop.
- What matters here?
- What change am I choosing?
- What would progress look like in real life?
SAILS framework
SAILS helps people move from automatic reaction toward awareness, choice, support, and sustainable direction.
Use the whole route—or enter where you are
SAILS is not a clinical protocol and it does not require a recovery identity. It is a peer-education map for asking better questions when a situation feels confusing, intense, or automatic.
A participant may move forward, backward, or between stages. The framework is useful when starting change, maintaining progress, responding to a setback, supporting someone else, or simply trying to understand a recurring pattern.
Direction and values
Clarify what you are moving toward rather than defining yourself only by what you are trying to stop.
Awareness without judgment
Notice the body, emotions, thoughts, urges, environment, relationships, and stressors shaping the moment.
Choice under pressure
Create enough space to choose a response that serves safety, values, and the direction you selected.
Connection and boundaries
Use support in ways that increase honesty, connection, and capacity without giving away your agency.
Stability and meaning
Build routines, relationships, purpose, health, and structure that make the chosen direction easier to sustain.
The space between stages
Mindful Navigation trains the moment before a tool gets used: noticing the body, emotion, thought, or urge clearly enough to decide which SAILS stage belongs next.
Current tool library
The tool titles and files are being reviewed as a separate project so the new philosophy is applied deliberately rather than through rushed word replacement.
The existing worksheets are educational peer-support resources. They are not diagnostic instruments, therapy, or medical guidance.
